Agrobiological Culture

The wines made from Agrobiological grapes for sale in the U.S, in Canada and in the European Community are certified by an accredited and recognized body by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), AB (France), Biogarantie (Belgium), Agricultura Ecologica (Spain), Agrobio (Portugal), Öko Kontrollstelle DE (Germany). They are labeled « made from grapes grown in accordance with principles of organic farming ».

Our grapes come from a process of production without chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or insecticides, and the wines produced with our organic grapes promise to be the greatest goods of nature for your taste buds.

Organic viticulture
In organic viticulture, no use of chemical fertilizers or synthetic herbicides and pesticides disrupt the equilibrium ground-flora-fauna, which will weaken the vines and lead to disease. No more genetically engineered organism (GEO) in plants and the yeast. The only treatment products used for Bio are copper salts, Bordeaux mixture (bouillie bordelaise), and sulfur. Our organic viticulture methods are also friendly to the vines, grapes and the environment. Thus, most operations are carried out manually or with the appropriate machinery. Basis of Bio agriculture, organic manure, composted organic matter during at least one year, feeds the soil in accordance with the microorganisms that live there. In addition, the soil is loosened without upsetting the layers and the harvest is often done manually.

Like all forms of agricultural production pretending to the organic Standards, independent certification bodies are entrusted by the Province of Aragón to issue official labels, supervise and monitor the culture of the Bio vines. In SOMONTANO, the Committee Aragonés de Agricultura Ecologica requires several quality controls in our vineyards during the season; an analysis of the leaves and of the soil in the spring as well as before the harvest period form part of these stringent compliances. Furthermore, numerous tests on grapes as well as unannounced visits at any time in the vineyards are conducted. During the harvest, a sample of grapes is taken from the different parcels of vines and other samples are taken at the arrival of the grapes in the Bodega. The same goes for the wine made with our Bio grapes; wine samples are collected after the first fermentation at the Bodega, and further analysis are done just before bottling. Once the wine is ready to be sold, a final test is conducted before the wine can be certified Bio. The Bio wine shall in no way have been modified, enhanced or touched in orderto keep its organic certification. Our Organic wine is: a wine elaborated only with our Bio grapes. Nothing can be added to the must (or wine) to change the taste, aroma or appearance.

What is typically  found on BIO wine labels are descriptions such as AB (France), Biogarantie (Belgium), Agricultura Ecologica (Spain), Agrobio (Portugal), Öko Kontrollstelle DE (Germany). They guarantee that the grapes were produced without chemical fertilizers or synthetic chemicals. However, this does not guarantee that the wine is organic. Indeed, organic grapes must then be vinified using traditional methods allowing, within strict limits, no input of additives not tolerated by the Organic certification body: no synthetic products, GMO, exogenous yeasts or activators, additives, preservatives ... In short, you can not alter the wine.

For their work, our winemakers, bio from the vineyard to the processing of the grapes into wine, meet very strict specifications and pave the way towards official recognition of organic winemaking in the world.
